Case Study: Behavioral Map

Hello, everyone! Today I'll be talking about the ways that people interact and experience the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Georgia (my case study building).
On a normal day, a person could walk into the museum and see that's it's generally very open and well-lit due to the windows in every other room and the white walls and ceiling. Along with this, there are wonderful acoustics in the main area of the High Museum of Art, and in each gallery there's wood flooring and curved ceiling pieces that help to minimize the echoing of other people. There's plenty of space to walk around and just look around, and there are a bunch of balcony-like areas that are visible from the ground floor. There's a combination of regular-sized doorways and larger doorways in order to add a sense of contrast in this all-white building. Overall, there's a nice air about the whole building, and people can have a pretty good experience here.

Behavioral Map

Hello, everyone! Today, I'm going to be talking about the space my discussion group went to and observed, which in my case was the basement of the William T. Young Library. While down there, I noticed that specific pathways were created in order to somewhat regulate the traffic of people going down there and finding a place to sit where they can do their work. There was a change in flooring materials to separate the main walk-way from the basic walking space. Also, there were a lot of different things following along with the hexagonal shape of the building: the wall divisions, the tables, lights, etc. The whole space was very pleasing and easy to understand.

Time-Lapse

Hello, everyone! Today, I'll be posting a time-lapse video of a location I found to be interesting. The location I chose was the Clubhouse building at my apartment complex, and I did so because I enjoy the idea of there being multiple activities for people to take part in throughout the space. Throughout the video, you can see my friend and I going to the workout room, play pool and foosball, make some tea in the kitchen area, and more. This space is a great place for residents at my apartment complex to go after a hard day at work/school and just unwind with some friends. We went there during a later time in the day when not many people were going in, but on a daily-basis not a lot of people go in at one time anyway.

Gatton Sketches

Hello! This is my first blog post of the semester, and it's over my observations of Gatton College on campus. The class was basically asked to sketch and take notes on the main study room in the building.
